Mirror mimic mtg12/28/2023 Recruiter of the Guard (also repeatable tutor)Īny Creature that Cantrips or draws multiple on etb (repeatable card draw for 3) Ranger - Captain of Eos (repeatable tutor as well as protection) I looked through some of your database, and here were some cards it used that work really well with it: If we are looking at regularly played cards that people regularly play that you could easily use to get value off of this once they die, there seem to be a really good amount to where you don't need to alter your deck that much. Its not as much of a win con in itself as other imprint cards, but it gets insane value. It also can get around certain stax pieces since you aren't casting anything, and therefore your tokens can't be countered, and its good on etb effects to stop your opponents from doing things, and it helps even if the creature gets removed. Of course you can only do it once per turn cycle on most occasions, but that still seems like some really strong value. It also costs colorless, meaning that you can turn an enemies creatures against them as long as they've been removed. The thing with mimic vat, at least how I'm reading it, is that it can imprint a creature from either side, except perhaps enemy commander, no matter how it died, it can be used, making it a repeatable way to get value off strong creatures, protect combo pieces, or to temporarily deny an opponent resources. Mimic Vat is an interesting card, and I'll admit that it is mostly important in decks with many creatures, but its still really good even if you just use it to steal opponents creatures. ![]() I guess this is an EDH question in general, but I thought here might give the best explanation, especially with the high power level of single creatures that Mimic Vat likes. So before I start here, I'm a relatively new player, and I mostly do budget, and I barely play, so perhaps I'm not familiar enough with the meta, so I'd like to see why, as I don't understand why people don't play it more, as its really cheap and its in none of the decks I've seen in the primer, but it seems absurdly powerful.
